Begin the winter expedition from Manali and drive towards Rampur through the beautiful valleys of Kullu and along the Sutlej River. Enjoy scenic mountain landscapes, traditional Himachali villages and changing terrain as you approach Rampur. Overnight: Rampur

After breakfast, drive towards the beautiful Sangla Valley. The route follows the Sutlej and Baspa river valleys, offering spectacular mountain scenery. On reaching Sangla, explore the valley and nearby villages if time permits. Places to explore: Sangla village, Baspa River, traditional Himachali architecture and valley viewpoints. Overnight: Sangla

Start early for the high-altitude landscape of Spiti. Drive through Kinnaur towards Nako, crossing rugged mountain terrain and remote settlements. The landscape gradually changes from green Kinnaur to the stark, dramatic Trans-Himalayan terrain of Spiti. Reach Nako by evening and explore the village and Nako Lake, subject to weather and road conditions. Overnight: Nako

Drive from Nako towards Kaza with sightseeing stops en route. Visit Gue Monastery, known for its ancient mummy, before continuing towards Dhankar. Explore Dhankar Monastery and enjoy spectacular views over the Spiti Valley. Continue towards Kaza through the dramatic winter landscape. Places to explore: Gue Monastery, Dhankar Monastery, Dhankar village and Spiti Valley viewpoints.

A full day exploring the famous high-altitude villages and landmarks around Kaza. Visit Hikkim, one of the world's highest inhabited villages, followed by Komic and Langza, famous for its Buddha statue, fossils and panoramic Himalayan views. Continue towards Key Monastery and Chicham Bridge, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the valley. Return to Kaza by evening. Overnight: Kaza

Begin the return journey towards Kinnaur. Drive through the rugged Spiti and Kinnaur landscapes and cross the Lepcha Pass section, subject to winter road conditions and local permissions. Continue towards Kalpa, enjoying spectacular views of the Kinnaur mountains and the Kinner Kailash range. Overnight: Kalpa

After breakfast, drive from Kalpa towards Jibhi. The route takes you through the beautiful valleys of Kinnaur and the lower Himalayas. As you descend, the landscape changes from the cold desert of Spiti/Kinnaur to lush mountain forests. Reach Jibhi and enjoy a relaxed evening around the village. Overnight: Jibhi

After breakfast, begin the final drive towards Manali. Enjoy the scenic mountain roads and forests of the Kullu Valley before reaching Manali, marking the end of the Spiti Winter Expedition.

Yes, the expedition is designed around winter conditions, but riders should be prepared for freezing temperatures, snow, ice and potentially challenging road conditions.

 

The itinerary includes Key Monastery, Chicham Bridge, Hikkim, Komic, Langza, Dhankar Monastery, Gue Monastery and Nako Lake.

Winter road conditions can change rapidly. Routes, passes and sightseeing stops may be modified depending on snowfall, road conditions, weather and local authorities.

Nako and Kaza are important high-altitude stops, giving riders time to adjust before exploring the higher villages and landmarks around Spiti

Carry proper thermal layers, waterproof riding gear, insulated gloves, winter boots, protective riding equipment and essential personal medicines.

 

The expedition combines snow-covered landscapes, frozen high-altitude terrain and iconic Spiti landmarks, offering a very different experience from the conventional summer journey.

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility

  • Riders must be between 18 and 65 years of age.
  • A valid driving license is required.
  • A valid photo ID must be presented.
  • People with asthma/epilepsy are not allowed to participate in bike tours due to safety concerns.

 

Luggage Rules

  • Trolley bags are not allowed as they are not suitable for bike rides.
  • Maximum luggage weight allowed is 20 kg per rider.
  • The company is not responsible for any loss or damage to luggage.

 

Bike & Riding Gear

  • Riding gear (helmet, riding jacket, etc.) is provided by the company as complimentary for your safety.
  • Riding Jackets sizes range from Small to 3XL.
  • Riders must check the bike before starting the trip and report any issues immediately.
  • Any external damage to the bike or riding gear during the tour must be paid for by the rider.
  • A security deposit of $120 USD per bike is required for foreign nationals. It will be refunded at the end of the tour after checking for damages.
  • A security deposit of INR 5000/- per bike is required for indian nationals. It will be refunded at the end of the tour after checking for damages.

 

Safety & Medical

  • The company does not provide insurance for injury or death.
  • Riders are responsible for their own safety and must arrange their own insurance.
  • First-aid kits are provided for minor injuries only.
  • In case of medical emergencies or hospitalization, riders must pay for their own treatment. The company will help with support but is not financially responsible.

 

Changes, Cancellations & Delays

  • Uninformed extension of travel dates will be charged at double the rental rate per extra day.
    If a rider abandons the bike mid-tour, they will be charged for its return.
  • In case of natural disasters (e.g. landslides, floods, snow fall), the itinerary may change.
  • The company is not responsible for such situations.
  • In the event of route changes due to natural calamities that result in a longer journey, the additional charges will be borne by the rider.
  • Delays or skipped places due to natural causes may incur additional charges.
  • In case of war or public health emergencies (e.g. COVID-19), the company may reschedule the tour for your safety.

 

Accommodation

  • If listed hotels are unavailable due to maintenance, alternative hotels of a similar standard will be arranged.
  • Maximum 3 adults per room.
  • The third person will be provided a mattress and bedding.

 

Rider Conduct

  • Riders must cooperate with the team Marshall throughout the trip.
  • Any misbehaviors can lead to cancellation of the tour.
