Travel through beautiful valleys to Lamayuru, also known as “Moonland” because of its unique landscape. Then, head to Nubra Valley, crossing the high Khardung La Pass. In Nubra, visit the famous Diskit Monastery and take an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Hunder. Explore the quiet villages of Sumur and Panamik before returning to Leh for meditation and relaxation. In the last part of the trip, visit Stok Monastery and Shey Palace, both offering amazing views and a glimpse into Ladakh’s royal past. Finish your journey feeling refreshed, inspired, and filled with unforgettable memories of Ladakh.
Welcome to Leh! After landing at the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, take it easy and get used to the high altitude. Walk around the town, check out the local market, and try some traditional Ladakhi food. You can also visit Leh Palace and enjoy the view from the top. If you feel up to it, take a short walk to Sankar Monastery, a peaceful place where monks pray and meditate.
Today, visit Hemis Monastery, the biggest monastery in Ladakh. It is full of beautiful paintings and ancient statues. After that, go to Thiksey Monastery, which looks like Tibet’s Potala Palace. From here, you can see amazing views of the Indus Valley. If you want, you can join a short meditation session before heading back to Leh.
Visit Spituk Monastery, where you can see old statues and colorful masks used in Buddhist ceremonies. Later, head to Shanti Stupa, a white Buddhist monument that sits on top of a hill. It’s a great place to relax and watch the sunset over Leh.
Today, drive to Alchi Monastery, a very special place known for its ancient paintings and wood carvings. It’s different from other monasteries because of its artistic style. Then, visit Likir Monastery, home to a giant golden Buddha statue. Spend some time with the monks and learn about their daily lives.
Travel to Lamayuru Monastery, one of the oldest in Ladakh. The landscape around it looks like the surface of the moon, which is why people call it "Moonland." Explore the monastery, take pictures of the unique scenery, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Cross Khardung La, one of the highest roads in the world, and enter Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit Monastery, famous for its huge Maitreya Buddha statue. Then, head to the sand dunes of Hunder, where you can take an optional camel ride on double-humped Bactrian camels.
Explore the small village of Sumur and visit Samstanling Monastery, where monks study and pray. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and watch monks chant their daily prayers. Later, visit the nearby Panamik Hot Springs, where you can relax in warm natural water.
Travel back to Leh through the scenic mountains. Today is a free day—you can visit more monasteries, relax at a local café, or join a Buddhist prayer ceremony at a monastery. It’s a great time for personal reflection and meditation.
Visit Stok Monastery, home to rare Buddhist paintings and a large statue of Avalokiteshvara. Then, explore Shey Palace, a historic royal residence. The palace has a beautiful golden Buddha statue and a stunning view of the valley. After exploring, return to Leh for the night.
